Nomination by sending institution

The students who would like to study at Eskisehir Technical University as exchange student should be nominated by their home institution.

To start the application procedure for Fall Semester we need a nomination e-mail sent by the home institutions to uib@eskisehir.edu.tr with the following data:

- Name and Erasmus Code of sending institution

- Full name and e-mail address of student(s)

- Field(s) of studies (faculty and department of student)

We would like to highlight that Learning Agreements should also be sent in the same e-mail with the nomination information. Please check Eskisehir Technical University Info Pack for the courses.

Application at Eskisehir Technical University

After the nomination e-mail have been sent, please start the following steps to make your application at Eskisehir Technical University. No application will be accepted without the nomination e-mail! Dead-line for sending nomination and the necessary documents: 22nd of December 2017.

1. Online Application Form: After nomination you will receive an e-mail with a link and password to our Online Application System. Please fill in the Online Application Form for Erasmus Students or Non-Erasmus Students (choose the appropriate one) on computer, have it signed and stamped to your institution and send a soft copy via e-mail. This online application form also includes the Housing Application Form. We regret to tell you that it is not possible to arrange any accommodation unless we received the application form including the housing application form beforehand.

2. Learning Agreement: Please prepare your Learning Agreement with the help of Eskisehir Technical University Erasmus Departmental Coordinators and send us scanned copy via e-mail. You can get information about courses and their contents. Please keep in mind that you may take any course from any faculty as long as your university agrees.

3. Transcripts of Records: It should be your latest transcript that you received from your university.

Acceptance

After you have received your Acceptance Letter from Eskisehir Technical University, you should follow the steps stated below:

1. You need to go to nearest/appropriate Turkish Embassy or Consulate with your Acceptance Letter and other necessary documents to get your Visa.

2. After getting your visa, please check the sections Practical Information to learn how to arrive Eskişehir and the details regarding accommodation. Approximately two weeks before your arrival you will receive an e-mail with the contact data of your Buddy Student “Mentor” and your flatmate.

Mentor (Buddy Student): S/he helps you about your arrival, accommodation, registration to Eskisehir Technical University, getting resident permit etc.

3. We recommend you to inform your Mentor about the exact date of your arrival in any condition. You can ask your Mentor what you need to know before you arrive Turkey. If you need assistance to reach Eskişehir or pick-up service from the Istanbul or Ankara airport please inform your Mentor. However, please keep in mind the pick-up service form airport is based on voluntariness.

Visa

Visas must be obtained from a Turkish Consulate, generally the one nearest your place of residence. Student Visas cannot be obtained within Turkey. You must take your "Acceptance Letter" from Eskisehir Technical University and apply to the Turkish Consulate with the other required documents.

Please note that it may take up to 8 weeks to get the visa. You may find Consulate information through the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: http://www.mfa.gov.tr

Insurance

Erasmus students must obtain a valid private health insurance in Turkey. This is vital to apply for the residence permit. Please note that an ordinary travel insurance will not be accepted by the foreigners department. The insurance policy must be in English and there must be stated an article which guarantee “inpatient and outpatient treatment abroad’’. Incoming students can also get a state or private health insurance in Turkey. The private insurance costs around 600 TL (220-230 €) for one year. Due to practical reasons, it's highly recommended to get an insurance in Turkey.

Please note: Resident students can benefit from Eskisehir Technical University's own medico-social facilities, located on İki Eylül Campus free of charge.

Accommodation

Before your arrival, you will be assigned a proper accommodation, a flat to share with Turkish Students according to your preferences stated on your “Housing Application Form”. On the other hand, if you prefer to stay in an apart hotel (studio apartment) instead of the flat arranged by the International Office, we cannot guarantee a place for you but we will do our best to help you. Please keep in mind that, you will receive an e-mail from International Office about accommodation before your arrival to Eskişehir.

Buddy Students (Mentor): You will also be assigned a buddy student as soon as you are accepted. Buddy students help you with your travel arrangements and inform you about the university, city and the country during your whole stay. As long as you inform your buddy student about your exact arrival date and time then your buddy student assist your pick-up.
